Born and raised in Seneca, South Carolina, Chris Worley and his brother Jeff (also a member of Jackyl) grew up big music fans. At the age of 13, Chris begged his mom to take them to a concert in Greenville, the nearest large city. Unable to even recall the band, “it doesn’t even matter”, Chris says. “It was all about the music. The second that the lights dimmed, the crowd jumped to their feet, jumping and screaming as the band walked on stage to their instruments—that was it! I knew THAT is exactly what I wanted to be doing.”
Chris counts Tommy Lee, Tommy Aldridge and Shannon Larkin as his musical influences. He is not as much into the technical side of drumming, but its all about the performance. “You will find a lot of players who are technically better than me—but you will never find someone who is more dedicated to the performance… to the show,” says Worley.
Chris has been with Jackyl since the band formed in 1991. Their sound has been described as hard rock, heavy metal and Southern metal. Their eponymous album has sold more than a million copies in the United States. Jackyl toured with Aerosmith and the Damn Yankees. The band is currently on the road consitantly with many annual festival stops, including playing at the legendary Full Throttle Saloon each year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This has been highlighted and documented on each season of the hit reality television show Full Throttle Saloon seen on TruTV, Destination America and Reelz network.
